Welcome to Abruzzo Travel Guide

Welcome to the Abruzzo Travel Guide. If you’re planning a trip to Italy and want a region with real character, fewer crowds, and a mix of mountains and sea, Abruzzo is a great choice. It’s a region you’ll fall in love with as much as we did.

I live in Abruzzo, and I built this site to help you plan your trip with practical tips, local context, and the kind of details you only learn by spending time here. If you’re not sure where to begin, this page will point you in the right direction.

About Abruzzo Travel Guide

I created this site to help you plan your visit to Abruzzo. There are many resources out there, but some are pretty hard to find. In a way, I think many people don’t know about this region because they can’t find information about it.

A pretty square in Chieti - start here

I’m here to change so you can start exploring Abruzzo with confidence. As I continue exploring this region, I’ll keep adding new guides, recommendations, and hidden spots I discover along the way. Check back often to see what’s new.

Find things to do in Abruzzo

Abruzzo offers something for every type of traveller. You can hike mountain trails in Gran Sasso National Park, bike along the Adriatic coast, or explore medieval villages perched on hilltops. Tour vineyards in the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo country or take cooking classes to learn traditional recipes passed down through generations.

Eat your way through Abruzzo

You can’t come to Abruzzo and try the local flavours. Here, you’ll find recommendations for great restaurants, tips for visiting markets and what dishes to try. I’m also trying to find cooking classes and food tour suggestions for those who want hands-on experiences with Abruzzo’s food culture.

Tips for planning your trip to Abruzzo

In this section, I cover everything you need to know before you start planning and while you’re here. You’ll also find practical information about the best times to visit different areas, how to get around once you arrive, and what to pack for different seasons.

Handy Abruzzo itineraries

The best way to explore the region is with a pre-planned itinerary. These ready-made itineraries will help you make the most of your time. You can follow them exactly or use them as a starting point to build your own trip.

Uncover hidden gems in Abruzzo

The best travel experiences often happen in places that aren’t in standard guidebooks. This section shares the pretty villages, local festivals, family-run restaurants, and scenic spots that you might miss. These are the places that made me fall in love with Abruzzo.
